Town Centre Path
BIG4 St Helens Holiday Park is located 1km south of the town centre, in a peaceful setting; the Park is a 15-minute walk around the edge of George’s Bay along the walking track, or a 2-minute drive into the town’s centre.
Bike/Walking Track - 1 hour return (easy)
Start at the Southern end of the Golden Fleece Bridge, cross it and through Kings Park, over Jason Street, then cross over the Tasman Highway (A3) at the Homelea Units onto the track and follow it around to the Lions Park; return the same way or start from Beauty Bay car park.
St Helens Point to Beer Barrel Beach - 1 hour return (easy)
Start at Burns Bay and follow the track to Beer Barrel Beach, either return on the same track or follow the road
back. St Helens Point is Tasmania’s most eastern point. Burns Bay is a good safe beach for children and Beer
Barrel Beach is a surf beach.
Peron Dunes to Maurouard Beach - 1 hour return (moderate - dune beach walk)
Start at Granite Quarry car park off St Helens Point Road just past Akaroa. Walk over sand dunes to reach the
Tasman Sea.
Humbug Point Reserve - 6-7 hours return (moderate)
Start at Skeleton Bay car park and walk to Moulting Bay, then back across through the woodland track and return
to Skeleton Bay car park. This walk can be broken into a number of short walks, starting from different points along
the track.
Skeleton Bay - 45 minutes return: a short walk to a rocky coastline.
Skeleton Bay to Grants Point - 2 hours return: coastal walk
Grants Point to Dora Point - 3 hours return: coastal walk
Dora Point to Humbug Point - 3 hours return: coastal walk
Humbug Point to Moulting Bay - 2 hours return: coastal walk
Moulting Bay to Dora Point - 2 hours return: woodland and coastal walk.
Bay of Fires Beaches - Easy walk with rocky outcrops
There are a number of beaches in the Bay of Fires, mostly accessible from the southern end (Binalong Bay) and by
road from Binalong Bay to The Gardens. From The Gardens the beaches are only accessible by foot. The length,
time and place of walking is your choice. Some of the beaches are:
● Binalong Bay Beach - good for swimming
● Round Hill
● Jeanneret Beach - good for families and swimming
● Swimcart Beach - good for surf fishing
● Sloop Rock
● Taylors Beach
Blanch Point Track
Take the Blanch Point track to the car park and walk out onto the groin. Interpretation panels and seats are
provided. A great walk for disabled people
