Discover Stanley from Above: The Nut Chair Lift Adventure
Perched at the heart of Stanley, The Nut is one of Tasmania’s most iconic landmarks. Rising 143 meters above sea level, this ancient volcanic plug offers breathtaking views, but there’s a way to make the journey even more memorable—the Nut Chair Lift.
The Nut Chair Lift is a must-do experience that perfectly captures Stanley’s natural beauty. It’s an ideal outing for families, couples, or anyone seeking a unique perspective of this charming town.
The chair lift spans 250 metres, ascending 95 metres to the top of The Nut in a relaxed five-minute journey. This scenic chair lift takes you to the top effortlessly, allowing you to soak in panoramic views of the historic fishing village, surrounding coastline, and the rich farmlands of Tasmania's northwest. Once you reach the summit, you can explore the plateau, take in the stunning views, and enjoy excellent opportunities for photography.
A 2-kilometre circular walking track surrounds the summit, featuring several viewing platforms offering sweeping panoramic vistas. You'll also find bathroom facilities, disability access, and picnic areas equipped with gas barbecues. For those craving a warm meal or a great coffee, there’s a welcoming café nearby to complete your visit.
Due to open from Saturday, 14th September 2024 until June 2025. Close for winter.
Head to The Nut Rock Cafe for entry and tickets. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for closure dates due to wild weather.
