At the heart of the beach, you'll find the Ulverstone Surf Life Saving Club, stationed just west of the creek that meanders its way to the sea.
Both Picnic Point and Buttons Beaches offer relatively safe swimming experiences during typical low wave conditions. For the most secure swimming experience, stick to the patrolled region in front of the surf club.
Ulverstone's waves are generally tame, but every now and then, the swell rises to create breaks over the rocks. The surfing experience is greatly influenced by the tide's state.
